Today we had this really beautiful man with crazy hair and a colorful half sleeve tattoo. On the second one down, I went a little too far with the color. So I cheated in photoshop, (I usually leave them as is besides adjusting the contrast and color cast) and I brought the color way down. Of course as usual, the one I like best is the 4th one down…the one I rushed to get done before the session ended.

I really like the way this one turned out. It was the second of the day, the first being pretty terrible, looking like I was out of practice. Which is pretty much the truth.

I am lucky to have friends who will sit and let themselves be drawn. It’s a creative exchange. I tried to do both of these fairly quick as I didn’t have a lot of patience today.

Looks like I need to find a new place to get my fix of drawing on Sundays for the summer. I hope I can fill it with outdoor sunny adventures painted in pastels. Last weeks drawing was the opposite. A rainy day fit for drawing inside. An umbrella suited the mood as well.

(maybe I’ll practice working on hands this summer.)

Today I made it to drawing on time, so I was able to draw all of the short poses that I normally miss out on. Here’s one out of two pages.

And here is the long pose. I had a hard time with the front leg for some reason. I think I should go back to doing more than one drawing for the long pose. When I get too involved in one for a couple hours it seems a little stiff. However stiff as this is, I did enjoy working with bright pink pastel on kraft.

Alright. So I haven’t drawn much for the last month. Yesterday’s drawings were tough since I felt pretty out of practice. Let’s not let that happen again.

Here’s yesterday’s. A much larger piece of brown kraft paper and pastels felt a little bit easier than the tidiness of pencil and white paper.
